Summary
This project is an evaluation of the Our Voice SA Reaching Out project. The evaluation is being conducted by UNSW Sydney and Flinders University.
The goal of the OVSA Reaching Out project is to increase the capacity for self-advocacy and connectivity for South Australians with intellectual disability through workshops and peer support.
The evaluation aims to assess the progress, processes and impact and highlight changes the project has made to project stakeholders, draw out key learnings from the project and model of delivery, and identify recommendations for good practice for future peer-led self-advocacy projects.
It takes a developmental evaluation approach to inform change during the project, and measure change and impact to meet the project outcomes. It will be used to highlight the changes for people with intellectual disability, their family and friends, accommodation stakeholders and the wider community.
Impact
The evaluation will extend evidence from the project through accessible reports suitable for people with disability, families, government, and practitioners in the field. It will also produce academic publications about the methods and findings to add to the evidence base on peer-led self-advocacy of people with intellectual disability.
